you did it!

Dating back centuries comes the idea that in the weeks following birth, a parent should be given the opportunity to heal, rest, and bond with their newborn baby. Fast-forward to current day, there is a pressure to “bounce-back” which is oddly celebrated. This modern day societal mentality can be mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. Within this time frame, parents are going through a time of great physical and emotional change as their baby adjusts to being outside of the womb with also adjusting to being parents for the first, second, third, or fifth time. In this scenario, sometimes investing in an extra pair of hands allows parents to easily transition into this new phase in life. Enter Grace & Genesis!

As a postpartum doula, OUR job is to make your job as a parent easier.

Postpartum doulas provide families information and support on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery help from childbirth, infant soothing, hunger cues, and coping skills for new parents. Essentially, ALL the mom & baby things! Helping out with light housework, prepping a meal, and incorporating an older child into this newborn experience is also some of the norms you can expect with a postpartum doula. Wearing the hats of a doula, confidante, friend, & supporter, you’ll get the experience & expertise to create an empowering 4th trimester within the whirlwinds of motherhood. Whether you need a break during the day to shower and sleep, need additional education on breast or bottle feeding, sleep routines, or infant education in general, receiving extra support postpartum can help you rest more & worry less!

BUT What about nighttime?

OH, OVERNIGHT INFANT CARE!

Overnight care can be so much more than just watching over baby while everyone sleeps. At Grace & Genesis, overnight infant care services offer consistency and sensitivity to the relief and well-being of the parent and the newborn. During this service, it’s best to focus on healthy sleeping habits and keeping your baby well rested, fed, burped, changed, and well cared for during the stay. While being respectful to sound during the night hours, this service also includes cleaning/sterilizing of bottles and/or pumping equipment, restocking baby items, and tidying up the nursery in the morning. A detailed log of activity can be documented throughout the night to then be given to you in the morning for easy reference if desired.

As birth itself can sometimes be harder for some to recover from, it’s understandable you or your partner may not be able to care for your newborn like how you imagined. During the overnight stay, the number one priority is to attend to all of your baby’s needs to support your own healing. For example, If you are exclusively nursing, don’t fret! It is made sure you continue to do so. If baby is formula fed, you can look forward to a whole night of sleep as we will take care of the feedings! It is ensured that these shifts honor your rhythm and the flows of your home and do not interrupt you or your baby. This service is to support your wants, needs, and to acknowledge your strength as a parent alongside your healing journey. You will be provided with loving support no matter what your needs may be!
